On August 4 (August 17 by modern calendar) the Orthodox Church commemorates The Holy Seven Youths of Ephesus (Seven Sleepers).

A Cross has been sanctified and raised onto the dome of Bagrati temple today. President Mikheil Saakashvili took part in the event.

On July 29 (August 11 by modern calendar) the Orthodox Church celebrates a commemoration day of the Holy Martyr Eustathius of Mtskheta.

Today, on July 27 (August 9 by modern calendar), the Orthodox Church commemorates The Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II laid wreaths at the memorial to fallen in the Russian-Georgian war heroes at a mass grave of Mukhadgverdi.

Today, at 17:00 hours, in the Holy Trinity Cathedral will be held the memorial service for the victims of war in August 2008.

On August 7-8 all national flags will be lowered to respect the memory of those fallen in the August war in 2008.
