Presentation of the project - "Psycho-social rehabilitation of refugees from the region of Shida Kartli and returned from the combat zones soldiers."

On Friday, March 27 at 16.00 Anti-Drug Center of the Patriarchate of Georgia will present a report on the humanitarian aid provided by the church to refugees and review of the project results which was financed by the "Georgia - Open Society" foundation - "Psycho-Social Rehabilitation of Refugees from the Region of Shida Kartli and returned from the combat zones soldiers."

Because of August 2008 events, upon the blessing from The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, the Patriarchate of Georgia and the Institute of Psychology Uznadze on the basis of Anti-Drug Center in the Patriarchate of Georgia was established the Centre for Psycho-Social Support and Rehabilitation that occupied the priests, psychologists and social workers .

With the financial support of the "Georgia - Open Society" foundation, the center has carried out a 6-month term project - "Psycho-Social Rehabilitation of Refugees from the Region of Shida Kartli and returned from the combat zones soldiers."

Key aspects of the project include the establishment and training of mobile groups consisting of volunteers who would like to work with refugees, psycho-social assistance to refugee-children and their parents, the diagnosis of psychological well-being of children and the organization of self-help groups, identification of leaders and their training.

Alongside with the results of the project, will be presented the new project by Patriarchy of Georgia about the humanitarian assistance to refugees. Guest will listen to religious persons, project sponsors and special guests school principals from the region of Shida Kartli which are specially invited because their schools were located directly in the combat zones and their students passed the course at the center of psycho-social rehabilitation.

Also, on the presentation will be held the exhibition of refugee children’s drawings.
