The VII International Festival 'From Easter to Ascension'

The VII International Festival "From Easter to Ascension" is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the enthronement of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
Tbilisi evenings of the festival took place from 18th to 22th of April at the Great Hall of the Tbilisi Conservatory. Was presented a varied program: an evening of instrumental duet (George Vachnadze - piano, Suren Bagratuni - cello), piano music evening (Aljosa Jurinic), an evening of vocal music in memory of Vaja Chachava, an evening of chamber music (Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Sinfonietta", soloists - Suren Bagratuni - cello, Nino Davitashvili - violin).
In the final evening of the festival’s Tbilisi part, which was held on April 22, took part: Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra of Opera and Ballet Theatre conducted by Vakhtang Machavariani, soloists - George Vachnadze (piano), Nana Kavtarashvili - Mirian (soprano), Sulkhan Gvelesiani (baritone). The final part of the evening was filled with the composition “AGNUS DEI” by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II written for two soloists (soprano, bass), chorus and orchestra. Author of the composition’s arrangement and orchestration - Zviad Bolkvadze.
The concert was attended by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
On April 24 the festival’s evening took place in Stepanttsminda. The participants of the concert were Nana Kavtarashvili - Mirian (soprano), Salome Jikia (soprano), Mamuka Manjgaladze (tenor), Victoria Chaplinskaya (piano) and the Women's folklore ensemble from Tbilisi State University "Gordela".
On May 8 the concert was held under the open air in Martvili, the summer residence "Salkhino" of the princes Dadiani. The concert participants: Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra of Opera and Ballet Theatre, conductor - Mario Rivas (Spain), Salome Jikia (soprano), Philip Gachava (tenor), Vakhtang Dzhashiashvili (baritone). On the evening were performed arias from the famous operas by Giuseppe Verdi and Dmitry Arakishvili, also popular European songs and music from the movies of Charlie Chaplin.
On May 22, the festival’s evening will be held in Kutaisi, in the State Opera Theatre of Balanchivadze. The concert will feature: festival’s Artistic Director Alexander Korsantiya (piano), Levan Tskhadadze (clarinet), David Shamanauri (trumpet), Hayk Babayan (cello), Nino Davitashvili (violin), Salome Chitaia and Nino Barkhaya (piano), Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Sinfonietta”. Will be performed: Dmitry Shostakovich, Joseph Bardanashvili and Otar Tatishvili.
The final concert of the VII International Festival will be held in Batumi Center for Art and Music where will take place an artistic evening of the famous composer Joseph Bardanashvili. On par with the local music groups (State Symphony Orchestra of the Music Center of Adjara Autonomous Republic, chief conductor - David Mukeriya, Chapel under the direction of Ketevan Memanishvili, Female Chamber Choir under the direction of Zaire and Gela Vadachkoria) in the evening will take a part exercising their creative activities abroad Georgian musicians - Edisher Savitsky and Levan Tskhadadze, as well as Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Sinfonietta" and the singer from Israel, which has an unique voice - Yaniv D'Or (countertenor).
