The Holy Liturgy was held with regard to the Holy Thursday holiday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. After the liturgy the Catholicos-Patriarch All Georgia Ilia ll preached for the parish. He talked about the importance of the holiday.

According to him, sometimes people feel closeness to God, but sometimes they think God left them. However, we should remember that God is always with us, he said.

The Patriarch recalled the Holy Tuesday when he was sanctified as a monk, noting he felt solitude and pain on that day. However, on Holy Thursday, when he was sanctified as a deacon, he felt great closeness with God and he felt joy.

“When you feel solitude, don’t be afraid, God is always with us. When you feel closeness, don’t be proud, as you may be left alone”, - Ilia ll said.

Holy Thursday is the Christian feast falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Spy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
