The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II said on the meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov that the misunderstanding between Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians was crated artificially.

Ilia II thanked the Bulgarian party for supporting territorial integrity of Georgia.

“We hope for Bulgaria’s help to restore territorial integrity of Georgia. This is immense problem of ours. I was metropolitan of Sokhumi-Abkhazia for 11 years. We never had conflict with them. Abkhazians are our brothers. The misunderstanding between Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians was created artificially. The situation is the same with the Ossetians”, - said His Holiness.

He said that there is neither war nor peace in the Caucasus and this can’t be continuing. “We want peace and well being in the Caucasus. We hope that Bulgaria will support restoration of territorial integrity of Georgia”, - Patriarch said.

Ilia II spoke about years of relations between Georgian and Bulgarian churches. “We have had friendly relations for many hundreds of years. The Petritsoni monastery is a symbol of our friendship”, - declared His Holiness.

Bulgarian delegation, led by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov paid two-day visit to Georgia. Members of the delegation have already met with Premier Nika Gilauri, several agreements were signed between the countries. The Bulgarian guests will depart to Presidential residence from the Patriarchate, where they will be hosted by Mikheil Saakashvili.
