Visit to Israel was historic for our country - Ilia II

‘I am happy that we peacefully returned from Israel. It was a historic visit for our country", - said the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II at the Trinity Cathedral.

Ilia II returned from the Israel yesterday. He paid a visit to Jerusalem by invitation of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Ilia ll met with the Jerusalem Patriarch, the Israeli President, the Jerusalem Mayor, and the Chairman of the Israeli Knesset. Ilia ll also visited the Palestinian autonomy where he met with the Palestinian President. A meeting was also held with compatriots living in Israel.

Ilia ll also visited the holy places, including the Christmas Church in Bethlehem, the tomb of the Mother of God, the Monastery of Cross and the tomb of Saint George.
