The Patriarchate of Georgia about the visit of Ilia II to Jerusalem

The Patriarchate of Georgia disseminates the information in connection with the visit of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II to the Holy Land, in Jerusalem.
During the visit, His Holiness and Beatitude will visit the state of Israel, Palestine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Today, in the old Jerusalem, the delegation members will meet with His Beatitude Theophilos, the Patriarch of Jerusalem. After the meeting, both patriarchs, alongside other members of the delegation, will visit the Holy Sepulchre. Today, Ilia II will also visit the burial place of the St. Simeon of Jerusalem.
Tomorrow the delegation will visit the monastery of St. Theodosius the Great and the Monastery of St. Sava, the burial places of the Holy Mother of Kozma and Domian and Holy Mother of Theodosius the Great. They also will visit the cave of the Magi (this is the place where they saw the Christmas star) and pray to the holy remains of the Saints killed by the hands of the Persians.
On the same day, the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, together with members of the delegation will visit the Monastery of the Cross, after which he will travel to the Palestinian Authority, the city of Ramallah, where he will meet with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
On February 19, Ilia II, along with other Georgian clergymen, will make a night prayer service before the Holy Sepulchre. On the same day, the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Georgia will visit the resting place of the Blessed Virgin Mary and visit the place of her birth.
On February 20, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II will serve the liturgy in Bethlehem, in the Church of the Nativity of Christ. On the same day, the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Georgia will visit the monastery of the Holy Prophet Elijah, and that mountain where the Prophet Elijah spent the night on the way to Mount Sinai.
On February 21, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II will meet with the chief rabbis and visit the Western Wall. Then the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Georgia will travel from Jerusalem to the city of Lod, where he will visit the burial place of St. George and will make a prayer to Saint George.
On February 22, the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Georgia will travel to the city of Holon, where the Patriarch will meet with compatriots living in Israel. On February 23, in the building of the Israel Knesset, Ilia II will meet with the chairman of the Knesset Reuven Rivlin.
After the meeting, the Georgian delegation will travel to the Holy Mount Zion and visit the grave of the Holy Prophet and King David. On the same day, the delegation will travel to Mount Herzl and visit the "Yad Vashem" museum, after which the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II will meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Mayor of the City of Jerusalem.
On February 24, the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Georgia will visit the Saint Gerasimus Monastery and the place of Epiphany near the border of Jordan, where, near the river Jordan, will be held the prayer service. They also will visit the place of Fiery Ascension of the Holy Prophet Elijah.
The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, along with a delegation of the Georgian Orthodox Church and the congregation, departed for a visit to the Holy Land on February 16. The Patriarch returns to homeland on February 25.
