The Catholicos-Patriarch departs to Jerusalem today

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II departs with a visit to Jerusalem today. Ilia II, together with the accompanying him persons, will depart from the Tbilisi International Airport at 6:00 p.m.

The visit of the Patriarch is informal, Ilia II expressed a desire to visit the Jerusalem himself. During his visit, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II will meet His Beatitude the Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. The visit of the Patriarch of Georgia will last for a week. Ilia II will return to homeland on February 24.

In his sermon today, the Patriarch asked the assembled congregation to pray for them during his visit.

The last time the Patriarch of Georgia has visited the Jerusalem in 2000 on the feast of Easter.
