At the Patriarchy of Georgia was held a meeting of the Holy Synod

On 20th of December, at the Patriarchate of Georgia was held a meeting of the Holy Synod, chaired by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
The Holy Synod considered the 6 issues: on the anti-religious propaganda recently launched by the means of mass media and the ways of the peaceful resolution of this issue, on the improvement of educational programs existing at the Patriarchate of Georgia and establishment of new structures, on development of agriculture.
Also, at the meeting of the Holy Synod was considered the issue of distribution of new identification cards (ID cards). According to the secretary of the meeting, the Metropolitan of Sachkhere and Chiatura Daniel (Datuashvili), the decision of the Holy Synod on this subject will be published in nearest time.
By decision of the Holy Synod, were canonized the prominent personalities of the recent Georgian history - the brothers Karbelashvivli and Philemon Koridze. Brothers Karbelashvili – the deacon Andria and the priest Peter were referred to the Holy Martyrs, and the bishop Stephen, deacon Poliektos and the priest Philemon were numbered among the Saints Righteous.
Also, for outstanding service to the Georgian Orthodox Church, was canonized Philemon Koridze, who, by the decision of the Holy Synod, was called the Holy Psalmist Philemon.
Meetings of the Holy Synod are held twice in a year.
