The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia met with the President of Armenia

On November 29, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II met with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. The meeting was held in the building of the Patriarchate.
Part of the meeting was held behind the closed doors. At the beginning of the meeting His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II and the President of Armenia appealed to each other with the welcoming speeches. The Catholicos-Patriarch said that he was pleased with the visit of the President of Armenia to Georgia.
In his speech His Holiness noted the historical friendship between the Georgian and Armenian people and the significant role of the churches to their people. The Catholicos-Patriarch also said that he appreciated the friendly and cultural relations existing between the two nations.
"Very often others have envy to our good relations, but we will overcome all the barriers. We have a lot in common, "- said the Catholicos-Patriarch. In his welcoming speech, His Holiness also greeted the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
For his part, President Sargsyan said that the Armenian and Georgian people have much in common. According to him, Armenia and Georgia throughout their histories have gone through many difficult periods. Very often, the Church performed as public mission. "We appreciate your Holiness very much, as you are playing a huge role in this complex region. You can bring together the peoples of the region ", - said the President Serzh Sargsyan.
