The Catholicos-Patriarch returns home today

On November 23, the Orthodox Church was celebrating St. George’s Day. Festive liturgy in Georgian church of St. George in Moscow was held by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II. The temple, which unsettled more than 250 years, was founded by prince George. The temple, which is founded more than 250 years ago, was consecrated by the Georgian Archbishop Joseph, who was accompanying the Vakhtang IV. During the communist regime the church was closed and there was placed the Economical College. The church service was resumed only in 90s of the last century. For the Georgian Diaspora of Moscow city the temple has not only the historical significance, but it also has a great spiritual significance. In our compatriots visit of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia to Moscow, which coincided with the day of St. George, has caused a great joy.
The Primate of the Georgian Church served on a visit to Moscow on November 18.The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia will return home on November 24.
