In the new Monastery of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, located in the Darial Gorge, was held a festive liturgy. The worship was held by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvita and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.

The worship service was attended by priests and other clerics. In the prayer service were participated the members of the local parish and pilgrims from the different regions of Georgia. The new monastery in Darial Gorge was also visited by the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili. After the liturgy, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, expressed his gratitude to the monks of the monastery. He also held talks with Georgian president on the current issues in the diocese of Stepantsminda and Khevi.

On September 14, at the monastery of the Archangels, with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, were consecrated two sanctuaries. The first, located on the first floor – the sanctuary of All Saints, and the second, on the floor above - the sanctuary of the Holy Archangels. Prior to the ceremony of consecration of the sanctuaries, the Catholicos-Patriarch held a prayer service. The Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia has appointed the leader of the monastery - Archimandrite Joseph Tavadze.
