The new monastery near the Russian-Georgian border

"On September 15, in Darial Gorge, near the Russian-Georgian border, will be opened a new monastery," - said the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Ilia II on the Sunday sermon at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

"On Thursday, near the border between Georgia and Russia, will be held the opening ceremony of the Monastery of St. Archangel and the choice of this place for the construction is not accidental – this monastery will protect us," - said the Patriarch.

On September 14, throughout the night, at the church will be served the prayer, and September 15 will host the opening of the monastery where the first Mass will be held by His Holiness.

His Holiness urged the congregation, to donate, as far as possible, a bag of flour, red wine and a bottle of oil. According to the Patriarch’s words, it is important not only for the monastery, but also for the local population.
