Day of the Beheading of John the Baptist is celebrated on September 11 (August 29 by Julian calendar).Christians celebrate this day with the strict fasting.

Lord received the grace of baptism from the hands of John the Baptist, the great prophet, the forerunner of the Lord, who was martyred.

"If Georgia can preserve the Orthodox faith, grace descends on us and our country will survive," said the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Ilia II at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity on Sunday sermon.

As stated by His Holiness, Georgian people should remember that the Orthodox faith, which we have retained from our ancestors, is a Lord’s grace for Georgia.
