In the Gelati monastery complex, with the help of international experts, are conducted the restoration works. Within the project framework, which considers a full renewal of the Gelati architectural ensemble, together with the experts from the University of Lugano, Switzerland, was developed a special method of masonry preservation, which makes it possible to completely preserve the existing historical fragments and also to restore the already lost fragments by use of special filler. This method will maximize the preservation of authenticity of the monument.
