Assumption of the Holy Virgin

Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Assumption of the Holy Virgin. This holiday is one of the twelve major feasts in the Orthodox Church and is celebrated especially. Feast of the Assumption was preceded by a two-week fast which ended on August 28.

Today, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, the Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Ilia II conducted a solemn Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Zion.
