The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolay Azarov.

At the meeting attended the members of the Holy Synod - Metropolitan of Zugdidi and Tsaishi –Gerasim, Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti - Theodor, Metropolitan of Senaki,Chkhorotsku, Australia and New Zealand - Shio. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed the gratitude to His Holiness for a country visit and asked him to pray for the souls of people who died in an explosion in Lugansk and Donetsk. At the meeting was addressed the various issues. In conclusion, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia thanked Nikolay Azarov for the warm welcome.

From the residence of the Prime Minister, Catholicos-Patriarch went to the oldest Kiev’s Saint Sophia Cathedral where he prayed for the holy relics kept in the cathedral. Later, His Holiness visited the church of All Saints and observed the place where soon will be built the cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
