Presentation Of The Translated To Contemporary Georgian Language Holy Gospel

The Bible Translators Group under The Georgian Patriarchy was established 20 years ago upon blessing from His Holiness and Beatitude The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II. The group is leaded by the Chairman of the St. King David The Builder’s Educational Center under Georgian Patriarchy, The Archbishop of Rustavi and Marneuli – John (Gamrekeli).
The aim of the group is to translate the Holy Bible (Old and New Testament books) to contemporary Georgian language according to translation traditions of Georgian church.
So far the group has published the New Testament books – The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, also the Old Testament books – “Creation” and ”Exodus”.
Translation of the Holy Gospel was made from an Ancient Greek language in accordance to Old Georgian Translations and definitions of the Holy Fathers. Translation was also compared and agreed with the Slavic and European editions and the current editions available on contemporary Georgian language.
Event was supported by The International Charitable Foundation of The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.
