Statement of the Georgian Patriarchate
16/04/2014
The Patriarchate of Georgia once again expresses its concern at the continuation of the installation of barbed wire constructions and at the situation of the population regarding the shrines remained in the territory temporarily uncontrolled by the Georgian authorities, witnessed of what recently became the congregation of St. George church of Zeda Adzvi village.
On our side, we several times have raised this issue before the Russian, Abkhazian and Ossetian sides, and we now ask Mr. Zurab Abashidze, at a meeting with Mr. Karasin to suggest on our behalf that during the holidays the population was given the opportunity to attend historical shrines, religious ceremonies and the cemeteries of close relatives.
