Patriarch met the Ambassador of Israel and the Chief Rabbi of Georgia

Today, on November 29, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II met in the patriarchal residence Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Israel Yuval Fuchs and the Chief Rabbi of Georgia Avashay Batiashvili.
Ambassador and Chief Rabbi thanked His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II for his contribution to the strengthening and deepening of relations between the Georgian and Jewish people. The conversation touched the initiative of the Patriarch on the “Foundation for Landscaping”. According to the Chief Rabbi, Jewish community in Georgia also will take part in this project. His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II said that the close and friendly relations between the Georgian and Jewish people have become an example for other nations and the recently adopted agreement on visa-free regime between the two countries will boost the number of Georgian pilgrims in the Holy Land and still the closer union of Israel and Georgia that is very important for both sides.
Finally, the Chief Rabbi of Georgia presented the Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia the Second collection of psalms in Georgian and Hebrew languages. In his turn, the Patriarch also presented the Ambassador and the Chief Rabbi memorable gifts.
Meeting was attended by the head of the International Foundation of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Mr. Lasha Zhvania.
