Today, on May 24, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, together with the bishops met with representatives of religious communities within the inter-religious working group.

The participants expressed their concern at the incidents on May 17, as well as negative attitudes towards violence. At the same time, representatives of religious organizations have expressed their common position and noted that same-sex relationships are a grave sin, and on this basis, their propaganda, circulation and promotion is not acceptable.

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and present at the meeting leaders of the religious dominations agreed to start active work to help address these and other issues in society.

At the meeting were outlined specific joint activities:

a) Jointly publish a book (or books) about the moral norms and issues;

b) Better care of the purity of the family as of the most important basis of the state;

c) To petition the government on the appointment and the celebration of the "Day of Family";

d) Strengthen the educational work in the community;

e) Develop and submit to the legislature for consideration proposals that will help to protect adolescents from pernicious influence.

The meeting was attended by the leaders of these religious domination: Jewish Community, Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Transcaucasian Administration of the Catholic Church, the Evangelical-Lutheran Church, the Evangelical-Baptist Church, the Yazidi Сommunity, the Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith, Christian Seventh Day Adventist Church, as well as, coordinator of inter-religious group Paata Gachechiladze, a representative of the Patriarchate of Georgia in matters of inter-religious dialogue and relations with international organizations Tea Gogotishvili.
