With the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the festival was founded in 2006. The International Charitable Foundation of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and “Akaki Ramishvili Foundation – Tradition and Innovation” are the founders of the festival.

26th Christening of Infants to be Held on March 3

The 26th christening of infants will be held on March 3 at Holy Trinity Cathedral. The christening will be held in two stages. 400 infants will become the Patriarch’s godchildren on March 3. 800 infants were registered for the baptism ceremony.

The christening will start in the second half of the day. Ilia the Second will arrive at the temple after the christening and bless his godchildren.

The Catholicos-Patriarch already has 13,912 godchildren. They are the third and next children of the wedded couples. The 25th universal christening was held on December 17, 2012 when 920 infants became Patriarch’s godchildren. The first general christening was held at Holy Trinity Cathedral on January 19, 2008.

The aim of the Patriarch’s initiative is to improve the demographic situation in the country.
