Patriarch will be awarded

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II will be awarded with the International Prize of the Russian Orthodox Church.

"In the 80th anniversary and 35th anniversary of his enthronement, for outstanding contribution to strengthening the fraternal relations between the Orthodox peoples and churches, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II will be awarded with the International Prize of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Peoples.

The Russian Orthodox Church annually awards by this prize the prominent religious and political leaders, as well as public figures.

Early next year the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II is invited to Moscow. The solemn ceremony will be held at the Patriarchal Cathedral of Christ the Savior on January 23.
