"The policy pursued by the old authorities of Georgia, was tantamount to genocide of the people", - stated the Bishop of Tsurtavi Jacob during today's sermon at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

According to Bishop Jacob, now in Georgian prisons are serving life mostly young men and most of them had been beaten or are suffering from different diseases.

"And after that, they still stand and justify the system. We do not require that someone should be arrested or punished. Are there a lot of ideologists and those who were giving the orders? Suppose that at least once they will have enough courage to admit their guilt. It’s a shame to live in XXI century under dictatorship or so, as it pleases several persons. The people should have the ideology and we must know what kind of country we are building. Closest to us space is European, and no one will prevent us to strive to that direction", - said the bishop Jacob.
